Brisbane is changing quickly. Arguably quicker than EVER.
An exploding population, increased traffic, and a tightening suburban footprint have all impacted our community. More residents mean more cars, more deliveries and busier roadways. It’s a balance that’s critical to get right.
Yet Brisbane City Council’s drastic changes to suburban clearway hours have come into force with MINIMAL community consultation. After being rushed through under the cover of night, these rules mean that some of Brisbane’s most populated suburban corridors are now “clearways” for 13 hours a day.
The knock-on effect? Enormous. Imagine waking up only to discover you can no longer park outside your own home. Everyday deliveries for groceries or packages can’t pull up outside unless they risk a nearly $500 fine. And bigger trucks for activities like gardening services or moving house? Forget it.

Trucks are now using MY driveway to service my neighbour’s needs, who only have a tiny carport. I didn’t sign up for this!

As a small business owner I totally rely on my customers to have somewhere to pull up outside, I thought this was just common sense!

Our son just got his first car. We only have one garage. Where is he meant to park it?

I’m genuinely worried this will nail the coffin shut on my business.

The consultation was a joke. Brisbane City Council obviously never had any plans to really listen.

What is the point of having local councillors if they have no influence over council's decisions that have a significant impact on their constituents? Why is Steve Toomey refusing to go into bat for our local community?
